Him (and his howling) really are world class pedigree, I agree!

I'm totally into the jokey fun songs too - actually they are my favourite ones! He has so much character that he really delivers them well as an overall aural-visual performance! The well honed (and toned!!!) instrument that man is.

Hopefully Norazo are due a new song soon. I guess in the meantime, knowing that he is coaching the Chaos boys and showing them how to ---really-- sing, being the wonderful hyung that he is, is enough to keep me smiling :)Jessica Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15719358719858711788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-10734866643510059212012-04-02T16:50:31.698+01:002012-04-02T16:50:31.698+01:00Hey Jasmine,

Thanks gals, found you and have to let my fingers rip.

Lee Hyuk is just too good to be true for the Korean music scene.A Rocker hasn't come this way for a very long time and the time is ripe. And is he world-class, pedigree! I'll give a howl here.

This man's pipes are just incredible, beyond amazing. He plays his voice like a well- honed instrument, hitting all the highest notes at will and making incredible lovely sounds with piercing clarity and resonance.
He has wonderful diction and style that is instinctive for a singer of the highest caliber.
Go check him out if you think I am exaggerating.
So far I have only heard some of his songs, cover versions and some of his work with his funny partner. Wish I understand what they are singing about but I find even the funny stuff good. Such fun and energy. Even beginning to like his partner and Norazo Hahaha.

Love to know more of Lee Hyuk and can't wait to hear and watch him sing. Can't keep watching his performances - explosive and addictive. The song is "Gaia" and it's friggin' 11 minutes long. However, this is the most rock I've ever seen from them, and Lee Hyuk's vocals are amazing. He said in an interview that although this is more his style, the vocals on this song almost killed him :).

You might like it. It's become one of my favorites of theirs.koreafemnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-51947629446846343532011-12-26T07:20:56.292+00:002011-12-26T07:20:56.292+00:00Cool to know. It will be broadcast late on NYE, but I'll likely miss it. On the same evening (but earlier), they will also broadcast Lee Hyuk's appearance in IMMORTAL SONG, which they are recording today. I applied to be one of the 500 "judges," but didn't manage to get in. Oh well.

Anyway, if you're interested, here's the link to Lee Hyuk's second appearance on that show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB5e2aZwXUQ

There are many links available for that performance, but I'm choosing this one so you can contrast his first performance, see a bit of his interview, and also how different he looks. Honestly, in his first appearance on the show, I fell in love with his voice. With this appearance, I fell in love with HIM haha. He quite enjoys the physical similarities people make of him and Jesus (altho he himself isn't Christian) :).

So you and your friend used to live in Korea but now you live in Japan? Are you the ones who made the Youtube clip on getting a Korean boyfriend? I found that absolutely hysterical. Anyway, it's too bad you guys aren't in Korea anymore. It's damn near impossible to find Koreans who actually like Norazo or Lee Hyuk; they just say that their music is "weird." With the exception of Big Bang and 2NE1, I don't really listen to Kpop much. :)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!koreafemnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-49544936819799252392011-12-24T14:58:06.647+00:002011-12-24T14:58:06.647+00:00I know what you mean, I really do. I was trying to remember which show Norazo performed at last year and I found this video instead... An LED light performance... WOW! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHbquTlz584
And look a Lee Hyuk's lovely red coat and fur collar <3 He's perfect.

I've seen one of his Immortal Song performances, and will definitely look out for the new one. In all honesty, my favourite style is heavy metal, but it is amazing to see that he has such a range. A wonderful man indeed.

I 100% agree that he is one of the best looking Koreans I have ever seen too! And the fact that he just doesn't care - and will literally wear anything - makes him so much better.

Thanks for the Sales King live link. I had seen one live performance of this song, but not this one. AMAZING! The vocals are sooo good, and the present to the cameraman - such a badass. I love the defiant look he gives to the camera a few seconds before that too.

I will certainly continue listening and keep telling everyone about Lee Hyuk and Norazo.

☆Happy holidays☆Jessica Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15719358719858711788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-38460064784935452682011-12-23T06:20:11.820+00:002011-12-23T06:20:11.820+00:00Haha that's good. Honestly, after I found Lee ...Haha that's good. Honestly, after I found Lee Hyuk, I asked myself what I ever saw in those young boy groups (sorry, Taeyang, you're still #2 in my heart) :). Yeah, he's pretty awesome and completely underrated here in Korea. He's appeared on IMMORTAL SONG twice already and will make yet another appearance this week. This time, he said he's going all out heavy metal style.

It's funny that you mention you like him despite the facial hair. I find him to be the exception of most things I don't like about Korean men (facial hair, tattoos,
Western look, etc.). With the exception of him being ridiculously pale, I actually think he's one of the best looking Koreans I've ever seen.

I really recommend checking out his solo work, as well as his stuff with Norazo. I know they're known for their crazy songs, but they're also able to write/sing ballads and other styles as well. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkXY_G-ULMs

His style changes consistently and almost drastically, but I guess that's what I like so much about him. Both he and his fellow duo member just don't give a shit :).

I've been replaying the title track of their latest album constantly. This is one of my favorite live performances of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwiX_uNIDJk

The quality isn't so good, but Lee Hyuk's little gift to the cameraman at around 2:46 is classic :).

Anyway, talent like this in Korea often goes unnoticed, so I'm glad to see it appreciated!koreafemnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-14330224283641874442011-11-27T02:32:28.127+00:002011-11-27T02:32:28.127+00:00Koreafem,
It's amazing that you commented on ...Koreafem,

It's amazing that you commented on this now, as just last night I was singing Lee Hyuk's praises and introducing the new Norazo song to a friend!!

Sorry about the Soo - it was an autocorrect mistake! (We originally got confused about the model Lee Soo Hyuk and he also got tagged as Lee Hyuk Soo (whoops), and then Lee Hyuk also inherited that tag!!! All corrected now.)
I wish we were both fluent in Korean, life would be so much happier and easier. One day...!

Thanks for telling us about his background too, i.e. he's not mixed. He really is such a babe, it hardly suprises me that he's 100% Korean in that respect!
In the Norazo live performance I watched this week his facial hair is back, kind of, and to be honest, I swooned at him anyway, so maybe I am finally diversifying my tastes! ^_^Jessica Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15719358719858711788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-72463598590242888002011-11-27T00:30:56.802+00:002011-11-27T00:30:56.802+00:00No, his stage name is just Lee Hyuk (not sure wher...No, his stage name is just Lee Hyuk (not sure where the "Soo" came from). His real name is Lee Jae Yong, and you can also find out information on him if you search "Norazo" which is his duo group with Jo Bin. Yes, sadly there isn't much stuff in English about him or them; it's a pity you guys don't know Korean. You can find most of their video clips on Youtube though.

According to interviews, Lee Hyuk isn't mixed; he's completely Korean. For me, personally, the ink and facial work for him. I'm not a big fan of that normally on Korean men, but it all just seems to work for him :).koreafemnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-60486312306497865702011-11-23T15:19:29.922+00:002011-11-23T15:19:29.922+00:00♥ おやすみ ♥♥ おやすみ ♥Jessica Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15719358719858711788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-75036969556723290442011-11-23T15:14:17.555+00:002011-11-23T15:14:17.555+00:00saranghae jessica chan xxxsaranghae jessica chan xxxBunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10831731633996244246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-21703835336133890092011-09-22T05:11:11.330+01:002011-09-22T05:11:11.330+01:00Hello Will!
Sorry this has taken such a long time ...Hello Will!
Sorry this has taken such a long time for me to read properly and comment on. I am a terrible blogger and an even worse friend, I apologise.

First of all, well done! what an excellent and lengthily post.

I second Bunny and her Daivichi comment. It was my first time, and though I am sure that they are very nice girls, it may have been my last time too, sorry.

As for Jaurim, I kind of enjoyed it. She didn't hold my attention 100% but I decided that it is not terrible, and I really did appreciate the flying V.

Oh Brave Girls, how much better I always hope you will be. Skull was not a good idea - in my mind he will never be a good idea. I'm sure he's respected and all, however, thanks but no thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTOEaMVfN1E Point proven.
And this version that you are discussing, I agree with you on every point. The saxophone is horrific, as are the drum fills (if you can even call the computerises noises that). There is one sound I think I like, but heaven knows how to start describing it/attributing a name.

Sistar. The intro is amazing, it gets me so excited, ready for a club banger, but seriously, the rest of the song is so nothingy. Brave Sound is usually such a seal of approval, but not really this time. I like the line about ice tea (?) but that's the only bit I ever remember.

I know we have sort of had this out in real life, but I feel that I just need to put it down in writing. ROLY POLY = One of my favourite songs of the summer. (period). It has all I need from a catchy pop hit, I can singalong to the chorus and the jokey English rap ('I like it like-a dis, I like it like-a dat...'), have fun with pronunciation, wail in high pitch, mimic a small part of the dance, wish I was wearing/imitate some of their clothes (which they change a lot)...many reasons. The most important one may be the ITALO version of it! I literally listen to it EVERY DAY. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Xolk2cFzlo
Do you find it any better? Please say you like it.

Dana & Sunday, it was my first time listening again. I'm a terrible K-popper. I quite liked it. I think it may be the squeaky recorder voice, as well as the low voices/high pitched squeal combination. I don't know if I liked it enough to research them more right now, but I will be sure to listen to the next song the release. Thank you.

With Dal Shabet I think I had had my fill of retro disco theme by the time it came out, but listening again it is pretty great. The costumes are pretty lame though, and it does remind me of something that may be sampled on Fun House, though that is not necessarily a bad thing. It wouldn't take too much persuasion to get me to a bling bling disco.

For Chi Chi I was genuinely excited to see what they came up with next as I really really loved 'Don't play around' and the fun chants. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy0fSw-yb6o
But I think I find longer a bit boring in comparison, I'm sorry. But knowing you would wipe the dance floor with it, when I hold my next UK K-pop party I *promise* to play it!

Even though I am not a fan of KARA (and may have a bit of vendetta against Goo Hara, who stole my Junhyung) I do like this song a lot. In fact, Katie just messaged my telling me to listen to it as she also (reluctantly) likes it a lot. The costumes are a bit 2NE1, but no one can blame them for taking inspiration, we all do!

Girl's Day - 'Don't let your eyes wander', how apt! You are very loyal indeed. 'Positive attitude dance classic', I like this terminology lots, especially for songs that sound a little like they are sung by singers who forgot to take their ritalin in the morning.

Finally, just to say that I 100% support your J-pop ventures (I too have come full circle). Please trust Bunny to answer any question you may have. And enjoy, it can be a bumpy if fun road.

xJessica Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15719358719858711788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-86057928932071664612011-09-11T06:55:32.568+01:002011-09-11T06:55:32.568+01:00Davichi they so kawaii >w<!Davichi they so kawaii >w<!KINGRPGhttp://www.kingrpg.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-21096289100408329402011-09-07T02:46:32.031+01:002011-09-07T02:46:32.031+01:00Another excellent post Will, it made me listen to ...Another excellent post Will, it made me listen to a whole Davichi song for possibly the first time ever, although, i'm not sure i'll be doing that again.

I decided Jaurim is not even worthy of her own 'tag'.

That Brave Girls song is actually the 'remix' version, which is a vast improvement and yet still a horrendous song, I already had to make a post about my distain for its reggae vibes and the fact that one of them performed this song in a Smiths T-shirt!! It does worry me that you are put off by the random non ironic rapper, thats a staple ingredient of k-pop. In fact its basically mandatory to a lot of solo female artists whose singles 'feature' rap talent and boy band's always have a designated rapper often whos only line is to introduce his own band over the opening bars. but agreed, Brave Girls should have stayed in the club. Its also worth noting they are the girl group of Brave Brothers who as well as releasing their own album are famous producers/composers of a mountain of beautifully overproduced kpop club bangers! (in my opinion)

In answer to your question, yes you are wrong to be hating on Roly Poly, well not wrong, we remain open to your personal opinion here at Nunas.. but you are certainly not right!! This is from their John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever inspired concept album (really), and T-ara are my favourite girl group for over the top, themed, catchy pop songs with super fun dance moves. I recommend their most infectious / irritating (to some) Bo Peep Bo Peep and the non PC representation of Native Americans in YaYaYa! I truly love them, I might even have to write my own post telling you why.

I'm not really on the same wavelength for a lot of your preferred girl group choices. Dana & Sunday are still a snoozefest as far as im concerned, I have no idea what you get from the Chi-Chi song but i'm very happy for you. KARA are ok, but as usual, never great, they just can't ever surpass the brilliant "Mister". I do like Dal Shabat, but I liked their last singles too, even their filler tracks on mini albums are pretty great.
Girls Day, its no Twinkle Twinkle, but its alright. this new song sounds really J-POP to me!!

I wonder If I should start giving you tips into that deep dark world of japan? well..
seem as you enjoyed Kyary, her producer is Yasutaka Nakata also responsible for a wonder j-pop trio PERFUME (as well as his own duo CAPSULE). Perfume have a lot of perfect songs, off the top of my head, check out Voice, Chocolate Disco, and their newest song i think is Laser Beam. I think we should all bow down and worship Yasutaka Nakata now.

sorry for the lengthy comment! even if I dont agree with you, its always a pleasure to read someone writing enthusiastically about K-pop, I hope you'll continue to write some more whenever you get the time.

xxBunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10831731633996244246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-50043858153601431112011-08-18T00:26:04.253+01:002011-08-18T00:26:04.253+01:00but he was SO PROUD of them, you could see it in h...but he was SO PROUD of them, you could see it in his face, he thought they were cool!

ok i'll stop it, ごめんなさい。

xBunnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10831731633996244246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5873119894435556258.post-15297698903443783582011-08-17T23:50:24.044+01:002011-08-17T23:50:24.044+01:00To be honest the Joon X Bubble pop was almost a bl...To be honest the Joon X Bubble pop was almost a blog is itself <3Jessica Janehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15719358719858711788noreply@blogger.com
