Super Junior's Leeteuk guest appearance on the "All my Love" sitcom:
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
"super... junior" ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
ahahahahahaah. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ. lolz.
and here is Leeteuk after Jo Kwon's character gives him a makeover (FYI, Kwon's hair is so tragic I couldn't even bring myself to screencap it):
Now Leeteuk is a sweetheart no matter what, but aside from the tracksuit, bad posture and the confidence of a wet blanket then call me crazy but the pre make-over "Leeteuk" was SO MUCH HOTTER. Bowl cuts and potter glasses all round thanks. That pocket kerchief is pretty great though, hmm bowl cut nerd Teuk in a blazer and some ankle grazers please. Top it off with deck shoes thanks and maybe put the spectacles on a chain.
I have been wanting to blog about Block B since I first heard their teaser who knows how many weeks, maybe even months, ago. And look, still nothing. I believe it's a classic case of a) having so many good things to say that it becomes intimidating to try to start a post about them (just like GTOP!) and b) a lack of time, as ever.
I like these stage clothes a lot. All round full marks.
But having watched various videos of them, and with the opening of their official(?) facebook page, I at least wanted to say, "HI, BLOCK B. I LIKE YOU A LOT, A WHOLE LOT", publicly.
The three song single is a two songs out of three perfection for me. Great rapping all round boys! Wanna Bis as good if not better than the title track Freeze. But both I love entirely. The last ballad is a bit of a snoozefest I admit, but they can't always all be winners. And though it's only a three track single, there are so many other tracks rapped and sung by them on youtube that it can keep you going for hours, it's such a treat!! The rumor is that they wrote over 100 songs before debuting.
To save time, there are some member profiles here.
There's always a reason for being prompted to actually get myself together and write a post, and this time the reason was the preview of Block B on the Japanese TV show Hanlove which you can see here.
My personal highlights:
Zico, a dark horse indeed.
and
"I accept up to carrot" ! ! ! He says it all, need I say more.
I had already picked these two as my favourites, though B-bomb and Jaeyho may also be favourites. Can you even have four out of six as favorites? I hope so. But yes, I was delighted to see that they both have so much personality, and this is just in the programme preview alone. Taeil does 'raise fish' too apparently. That's cool, I guess. However, Kyung and I are more alike as people I'd say - his hobby is 'web surfing'. Glad others consider this an official hobby too.
As you can imagine, I thought all was going great with Block B, no problems, many strong ichiban contenders in the band, great songs and rapping abilities, slick dancing, pretty good live music show performances....and then...
I have some terrible, absolutely grave news... Zico, are these d r e a d l o c k s???
Do not want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not these braided pig tails.
The gesture says it all.
Why couldn't we have made a Wanna B video from this teaser instead and waited until we had good visual styling for this new b-a-n-g-e-r of a song??? Why go off the rails on only your second MV and title track - Halo deserves better!!! Why not use exactly the same outfits and hair as in Freeze and bide time thinking whislt performing Wanna B some more? That would have been fine - it was a pretty dreamy look, even if Zico's hair was totally modeled on GD, and Wanna B totally deserved its own release. But to get back to the hair, maybe I remember reading somewhere that you didn't steal the pineapple look from GD, and that you had it first Zico? Either way, I didn't love it, but it was better than d r e a d l o c k s (the hint is in the very name, babe!) or braids or whatever they are!! Maybe the corn row top knot should have been a warning to me...hmm.
I'll blame the school uniform-esque jacket as distracting.
But it's not too late to back track to this is it? We all know how 'in' loose perms are at the moment.
Bunny, you know whose hair this looks uncannily like!!
Pretty please.
On the bright side, at least we know that the song is great. Maybe I can't have my cake and eat it, as the saying goes. But I'd like to.
Last week was a Music Core special broadcast from the Caribbean Bay Water Park, you know Caribean Bay the default go-to on location waterpark for every idol reality show and apparently music show, or maybe you just know it from "Cabi Cabi! the hottest hottest! Cabi Cabi! in crazy crazy!" that horrific commericial for the place which is guaranteed to raise the temperature with it's summery feel whilst it simultaneously raises your seething jealously as you watch lifeguard 2PM paired up with bikini clad Girls Generation...
Anyway, music special from the water park? its only June but yes! why not! and look at this, a lovely bit of nautical set design! I sure hope i'm in for a fine array of sailor outfits and some short shorts...
Well get ready to be disappointed, its not that kind of special, it was just regular Music Core at a fun location with a bit of a theme to the stage. Also my pet peeve the use of pyrotechnics in a daytime concert, ugh, why do people continue to do this, we don't see and sparks and flares we just see clouds of billowing smoke, we don't need bursts of flame blowing waywardly in the outdoor winds when broad daylight is showing us all too clearly how close out precious boys are from roasting their perfect fringes. I actually began to worry that Beast had somehow set themselves ablaze (pressumably from someone accidentally lighting a match a few inches too close to their collective smouldering hotness - Yoseob aside) in their performance of Fiction, it really did seem at one point like I was looking at Dongwoon through the hazy vision of an inferno whilst his make up melted off his face and he screamed out for Noona to help him... but fear not everyone, it looks like spontaneous combustion, but I promise you they are all fine.
Gikwang and HyunSeung... literally smokin'.
Staging complaints aside, the nautical outfits were seriously lacking, "pale blue" was the choice of a few, or just all white like FT Island who looked like a group of emo angsty angels whilst the flames (of hell?) burst around them. There one was man representing some sailor stripes beautifully, sadly he wasn't performing, but he was one the MCs, all hail SHINee's Onew and this perfect moment of him dancing along mid song (I think its Norazo's new song... lols) as only The Onew Condition can :
I LOVE HIM.
Well that feels more summery, more like we're at the beach right? having a party on the beach!! wooo!
OK so i'm over it, there were no jaunty sailor hats, nowhere near enough stripes and stupid flames blazing but Music Core did something right, I present you with ...
Watch them one after the other and then watch them again and again alternately and then when you're really ready for it, watch them both playing AT THE SAME TIME. I'm serious. DO IT. and then keeping doing that forever. AND EVER. You will never need to watch anything else, only those two wondeful performances from B1A4 and Boyfriend. Trust me, i've been surviving on nothing but these clips for 7 days now and I feel GREAT.
I also feel strangely attracted to boys under 20 wearing dungarees or tracksuit jackets or white Doc Martins... but thats only natural.
Fingers crossed for a proper nautical special before the summers over... I want sailors! I want shorts! I want socks! I want hats! I want special summer stages! I want it all!!
although truthfully, it's not really like anybody is ever going to win over this MASTERPIECE:
...no, its the dance mime masterpiece 4 minutes of performance art that is the comeback single from H.O.T's Jang Woo Hyuk - "Time is (L)over" - see what he did there?! LOVER/OVER. wow.
For those unfamiliar, H.O.T were super popular 90s Korean boyband who have all gone solo whilst they got a bit older and did their military service etc. Woo Hyuk, the rapper of the group and widely known for his AMAZING dancing abilities, completely his military service last year, and decided to stick with the chic grown out crew cut hair and he seems to have a naturally affinity for luxury sportswear dressing, which admittedly is a great look for him, and yes he totally looks like Super Junior's Eunhyuk(or alternatively all the WooHyuk fans are going nuts in the comments everywhere they can saying "no Eunhyuk looks like Woohyuk, because Woohyuk came first and he's older and blah blah blah.." but really, no, everyone means Woohyuk reminds them of Eunhyuk, because most of us knew who Eunhyuk was before we had to look up who Woohyuk was, we're not disputing who was born first.... but anyway, this is really besides the point...) crossed maybe with a little Jo Kwon? and unbelievably is 33 years old?!
Oh in case any of our readers are confused as to whether or not its ok to crush on WooHyuk oppa? let me help you out.
I am not mocking Jang Woo Hyuk. The song is a total grower, and he really is amazing, the choreography is insanely brilliant... but really, are there not just moments of this that are... hilarious? I feel like he was working on this dance routine like some epic party trick possibly for the last 3 years (what else is he going to do in the army? popping and locking must have made the days fly by!). I do feel a little disappointed that he doesn't include that move where you stand with your elbows up and hands pointed down like a scarecrow and then spin one hand that hits the other and makes it spin and stop and sway, could he not just have tagged that on at the end? I guess the laser eyes are pretty cool though ... and the ending is awesome, truly awesome.
(This is the dance version of the MV. The other version was basically a dance too. but this one had more cool lasers and steps and stuff and you see the full routine. regular version here.)
Well done Woohyuk, this is without a doubt a superior solo track to that time that you covered Blazin Squad's "Flip Reverse It"...
Can not get over this ending. Its like laser quest, Digital Bounce, TRON, the end of Labyrinth, MC Escher, Clockwork Orange, semaphore.... I could go on. MASTERPIECE.
