"this is... LED APPLE time! Check it out now..."

OK radies and gentlemen, about a month ago now Jessica and I first got to feast our eyes on this in all is dazzling glory:

Now you might be asking WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? and I will tell you that was LED Apple my friends, prepare to make some room in your heart. That lovely blonde boy shyly dancing between his rap parts, the power vocals of that other guy, the real rock sound of korean teens playing REAL INSTRUMENTS mixed with euphoric dance beats... and this song isn't even original its a remake / cover (of Baek Ji Young's "Dash")

So, first thoughts...? is it terrible? is it great? 
let me help you... IT'S BRILLIANT.

LED Apple a 5 member group on "Story Entertainment" (anyone?) to save me the trouble of trying to categorise these boys and their musical prowess instead enjoy this statement:

Story Entertainment stated, “Led Apple is unlike any other idol group that reveals their members before their actual debut. The group has been kept highly secretive in order to make sure their success is entirely dependent on their skills. They’ll become an idol group that can dance, sing ballad, rock, ballad, and play instruments all at once"

Which funnily enough is the exact same kind of conversation me and Jess have about this band everytime, like literally she was just saying right now:

Are you sure you have enough genres there boys? i'm not complaining, i'm already a fan but really I think you missed a few... and are you sure you want to list dancing amongst your skills? Well of course you do! Just look at their debut performance today on MNET M!Countdown JUST LOOK AT THIS DANCING! :

And by the way LEDAs (official LED Apple fan club name) I thought this was their  first ever live stage but I did also find a lovely HQ M Wave performance and not ONE but TWO from "Live Power Music" (?!) so rejoice and watch 3 more performances of the dance. My favourite bit aside from the sychronised limp wrist piano hands,and the walking fingers up the wrist.. is the sort of interpretive solo dance by blondie when power vocals is doing his thing midway, ending with the pair of them in a double slide lunge in opposite directions.  Favourite choreography of the year, hands down.

So anyway, The part of that management statement about being "highly secretive" was totally true because after that show stopping music video was released we could not find a single scrap of information on this group... but now the day has come, I did my LED Apple homework and boy oh boy do I have some news for you in the form of crucial k-pop fan essentials: pictures and profiles.

LED Apple - LED of course is an acronym for LOGIC EGOISM DELETE. Yes. it makes perfect sense for this band, as in, it makes no sense at all but is absolutely wonderful.

You should know i am purposely choosing the jokiest pictures I can find, just to keep with the abstract flow of LED Apple.

This is "I-OH" born in 1991, from Busan. Bloodtype B.

of course as we have witnessed he is in charge of the rap and vocal. Currently studying "computer" at university and he specialty / special talent is "smoke". I have no idea if this means he smokes, he has some kind of party trick involving blowing elaborate smoke rings or some other kind of meaning / implication of "smoke" that is totally lost on me.  Anyway, most important fact of all, the person he admires / favourite  musician ..... MADONNA. Of course you love Madonna! you adorable boy! the clues are there.. thats all i'm saying.

 Now welcome Minyong and notice how the "quirky" photoshoot continues. LED Apple must be some fun guys! Anyway, born in 1989 (yes! born in the 80s! yes!) Bloodtype B, all round musical star singer / composer / piano and famously (in Korea) a contestant on Superstar K (pop idol basically). Admires "BMK" Brian McKnight?  or London psychedelic rock n roll band "Black Market Karma"? It must be one of the two. In charge of the vocals of course, and every ballad bit ever I expect.

Admires Jimi Hendrix. no more fun facts and i'm going to be unnecessarily mean and say that he's currently running in 5th place to my heart, but the poor kids got a lot to compete with...

Let me introduce "ZEU" and I really want to call him ZEUS because god damn he's looking good and 182.5cm tall (love the .5). MAKNAE ALERT 1993. Bloodtype A, likes sports, plays bass, guitar and drums and likes some guy called "Markus Nilreo" that google has never heard of.

 

And finally I have saved the best til last, fact wise anyway, although to be honest... I think I might mean it in the other sense too. This is Sunghyun, the Leader of LED APPLE! 1988 (yes yes yes!) Bloodtype A, currently attending  "Hanyang Cyber University - department of education" Skills are rap(!) and drums (of course) and get ready for the highlight of this post.....

As if I didn't already think their future would be as bright as a million LED lights in a neon sky I am now certain. Europop dance rock pop ballad techno ballad drumstick twirling outfit made up of a Madonna fan, a guy from pop idol, a jimi hendrix fan, a beautiful teenage maknae and a SLIPKNOT fan. God bless Korea. This is such a great day!
